Just when we’re all looking forward to the Olympics to distract us from politics, I caught word of an additional Olympic Trials: the Kitten Summer Games! This will make my summer Olympic viewing complete.
This is only a quick sneak preview, but I can imagine the competitors will be tough and ready to go the distance. Hallmark Channel cracks me up. Power to the felines!

It’s our nation’s birthday on Monday and I’ve got a lot to be thankful for these days. The simple things in life are the biggies for me right now. Since my military days I love indoor plumbing, electricity, baggage with wheels, automatic transmissions, not walking post guard at 4 a.m. at Fort Carson, Colorado and a queen size bed to name a few luxuries.
A big shout out to all the military, law enforcement and medical personnel working this long weekend at home and around the world to keep us safe. I salute you all. Thank you.
Sometimes it’s not easy being citizens of the United States of America, but it’s never boring. We may be a very large dysfunctional family at times, be we are family. Have a safe and Happy Fourth of July.

It’s been another wacky week in the world. Seems the United Kingdom is divorcing Europe, but Scotland doesn’t want to go along. The ultimate family feud is brewing. The markets are upset, politicians are clueless, so what do the rest of us do?

So the NBA Finals are going to a seventh game on Sunday. Since the Blazers were shut out in the second round I’d rather watch these guineas pigs play hoops right now. Check out these cute little guys who seem to have a pretty good handle on the rules of the game. Well most of the time.

Time to check in with the Oregon Zoo and see what’s up. Appears to be the lions! Everybody needs exercise and that includes the big cats. Watch this fabulous behind the scenes video of how zookeepers keep the big guys in shape with toys dangled from the roof. Here kitty, kitty…
I buy tons of toys for Spec Ops Cat, but his favorites are the twist ties off the new power cords and the paper bags and boxes. Just like the big cats.
