Quirky Fridays

Lemurs, Bears, Beavers And Pumpkins?

October 26, 2018 By Kimberly A. Cook 1 Comment

Do we all feel like we’re hurtling toward the holiday abyss at increasing velocity? I’ve been running around like a squirrel on Mt. Dew trying to get outside and inside chores done ahead of the rain. It arrived yesterday. Kind of got things finished. Almost.

Just managed to get the six Halloween decorations out Thursday. If I can stay six days ahead of each of the upcoming holidays, my life will be a success.  I’ve learned to lower my standards for the holidays; makes life so much easier.

But one pleasure I can’t refuse is checking out animals at the Oregon Zoo playing with their pumpkins. How cute are these beauties? Love the lemurs! I keep thinking of King Julian in the Madagascar movies.

Have a great, safe, weekend and Happy Quirky Friday!

How Cute Is This Pinecone?

October 12, 2018 By Kimberly A. Cook 1 Comment

When bad things happen to people and animals in our country, we respond. One fine feathered example is little Pinecone, a baby Screech owl who needed a helping hand after a bad rain storm.

Staff at the Cascades Raptor Center made sure he grew up strong. Now he has a new home at the Oregon Zoo.

How cute is this little guy?

Take care of each other and have a safe weekend. Happy Quirky Friday!

Unleash The Hedgehog!

September 28, 2018 By Kimberly A. Cook Leave a Comment

Obviously I’m not the only one starting early to celebrate Fall. Fufu, the hedgehog from the Oregon Zoo, had herself a wonderful time chowing down on grubs in Fall gourds. How cute is she?

So stock up on supplies of your choice, grubs or pumpkin, and get ready for winter. Don’t let Fufu get all the gourds!

Have a great, safe, weekend and Happy Quirky Friday!

Fierce Little Lamb Becomes Leader Of The Pack

September 7, 2018 By Kimberly A. Cook Leave a Comment

If you’re one of the four people who have not seen this video this week, you’re in for a treat. How cute is this little lamb? Proves the adage good and fierce things come in small packages.

Where do we buy the designer lamb sweaters? Get patterns? Anybody know?

Have a great weekend and Happy Quirky Friday!

Harbor Seal And Butterfly?

August 31, 2018 By Kimberly A. Cook 1 Comment

We made it to the end of August! Kids are back in school early and Halloween decorations are in the stores. But before you run screaming into the garage in anticipation of the holiday season, take time to relax and watch the butterfly.

Young harbor seal Kaya at the Oregon Zoo was going about her business when she noticed a visitor. The encounter happened to be captured by the Zoo’s dive safety officer. What better way to remind us all to stop and watch the butterfly this long weekend.

Have a great, safe, long holiday weekend and Happy Quirky Friday!

House Cleaning In August?

August 24, 2018 By Kimberly A. Cook 4 Comments

There should be a law against cleaning house in the summer. There are too many other fun things to do. But the dirt is relentless. Thought this video was too fun watching Cole and Marmalade adjust to their new house vacuum.

Pretty sure Spec Ops Cat would still be in the next County if I had one of these. It would also need to climb stairs; little tiny crampons and roping skills required. Spec Ops Cat doesn’t mind fireworks, but the vacuum is the devil’s spawn!

Have a great, safe, summer weekend and Happy Quirky Friday!
