The sun is out here in Oregon and it’s party time in Duck and Beaverland! Nothing says Spring Break to me like the Beach Boys music. So I decided today’s video is an oldie but goodie I’ve posted before, because you can’t argue with perfection.

It’s time for Surfing Bulldog and the Beach Boys! Have a great weekend, don’t forget to wear sunscreen and Happy Quirky Friday!

(Well crum cakes campers! You have to watch this video on YouTube! Sorry about that! Click over! It’s worth it!)

March 14, 2014 By Kimberly A. Cook 2 Comments

I’m always looking for new fun things to knit and a friend alerted me to this current need. The penguins Downunder in Australia need sweaters to help them recover from oil spills. Knitting sweaters for penguins? Does life get any better than that?

So for this Quirky Friday let’s all whip out our knitting needles and get busy knitting small sweaters for our fav flipper guys and gals. Check out the video. Happy Quirky Friday!

Oregon Zoo Elephants Romp In Their New Digs

March 7, 2014 By Kimberly A. Cook 1 Comment

Back to the Zoo! Recently the ladies of the Oregon Zoo elephant herd, with the lovely Miss Lily, got to check out part of their expanding space. This elephant size remodel is being done in stages and with help from the pachyderms.

Seems sample lots of sand were brought in and tested by the elephants to find their perfect brand. Turns out our Portland pachyderms prefer that fabulous sand used on golf courses on their tootsies and it drains the rain really well.

So far the girls and babies have checked the place over, but the real test will come next with Tusko and Packy, the big boys. Since the trainers say Tusko “breaks everything,” can’t wait to see if we’ve built it “Tusko Strong” or not.

Check out what the ladies did in their new digs and how they inspected their new play toys. Happy Quirky Friday!

It’s Cougar Triplet Time!

Are these not the cutest guys on the planet? Besides the fabulous lion cubs we had at the Oregon Zoo, we also had three cougar cubs show up from a rescue. They are on their way to the East Coast  Tuesday to start their new lives – all together, two sisters and a brother.

I love a happy ending. Happy Quirky Friday!

Lost Any Nuts Lately?

February 21, 2014 By Kimberly A. Cook Leave a Comment

Been one of those crazy weeks where I can’t seem to find anything. Usually I put said item in a “safe place” and it is never seen again. Until I don’t need it anymore, that is, then it shows up.

It’s no secret I love cats, but there are some fabulous pooches out there too. This big guy is one of them. When all about you are losing their minds and can’t figure out where to store their nuts, this patient dog is a real pal.  When you can’t find something, frisk the dog! Happy Quirky Friday!

Happy Valentine’s Day From The Oregon Zoo Lion Cubs!

February 14, 2014 By Kimberly A. Cook Leave a Comment

by Kimberly A. Cook         (Twitter@ WarriorTales)

Happy Quirky Friday Valentine’s Day! Know how the best plans run amuck? So went my morning, so finally getting around to Happy Valentine’s Day greetings. Since we all survived snow and ice-ageddon last weekend, found this great video from the Oregon Zoo showing what the lion cubs were up to over the snowy long weekend. Seems even lion moms were having to deal with cabin-crazed cubs!

So in the great Winter Olympic spirit, watch these kids go for the gold in the snow. They even end up on the podium! Have a great Valentine’s Day and remember, no chocolate calories today. Happy Quirky Friday!
