Put Down The Tech And Pet Me!

I’ve noticed a recent trend with Spec Ops Cat. Every time I try to use my tablet to look something up, he gets right in my face between me and the tablet. Now I’m used to this behavior when it comes to books, magazines and newspapers, but it appears he’s traded up to the new tech too. He knows when I don’t have all my focus on the kitty!

With reports of parents paying more attention to their smartphones than their kids and chiropractors having a new diagnosis of “smartphone neck” perhaps the cats are right. Seems even Nala, that fabulous cat in Norway, agrees. She’s included tv game controls in her intervention program.

So the cats must be saying; unplug and pet me! Have a great weekend and Happy Quirky Friday!

P.S. The Hallmark Channel has one-upped themselves this coming Sunday. The Kitten Bowls were such a hit now we have the Paw Stars game! Seriously, watch out Starbucks, cats are taking over the world!

Conserve Energy, Eat Lying Down!

It’s going to be a scorcher here this weekend in the land of the Douglas fir trees and rain. We’ve got heat warnings, fire weather warnings and low rivers. So I’ve decided to follow the skilled teachings of Nala, a Norwegian Forest Cat/Maine Coon from Norway. In this video her classic moves of eating while lying on the floor must have taken years of practice and study.

Following her lead, the sun tea jar is outside making tea, my beloved air conditioning is set to 75 degrees to not kill it and I plan to eat lunch lying down. Nala can’t be wrong!

Can You Make Furry Friends?

Somehow whenever I’m looking for Friday videos, I always end up watching Cesar Milan old “Dog Whisperer” shows. Then 45 minutes later I remember what I was trying to do. So what better way to head into a weekend then to learn about making friends.

We all need buddies and sometimes the furrier the better. Check out how this young kitten tried to make friends with a furry hoppy thing. Don’t think he was quite sure what kind of cat it was. There is also a follow-up video when the kitten is a teenager meeting the bunny again. And then there go a few more minutes out of my day.

Ready For Some Ferret Fun?

One of my apartment roommates in the Army was Debbie and she had a cat named Kitty and a ferret named CB. Having never lived with a ferret, I soon found out they are like cats on steroids; three times as curious, smaller and faster with the brain power of a Border Collie.

CB loved my shoes so I quickly learned to be wide awake when dressing in the morning. You haven’t lived until you’ve tried to stuff your foot in a loafer filled with sleeping ferret at O dark 30. CB also loved to play in Kitty’s litter box which did not amuse her one bit.

So in the interest of Quirky Friday, here are some ferrets having fun with packing peanuts! Have a great weekend!

The East Coast, New England and Boston are getting hammered by yet another snow storm. They are truly living the movie “Groundhog Day.” Well, it seems like one cat is taking this all in stride and has some pretty cool moves.

The teams have been training and the playoff games are almost decided. With the Combine looming in the distance for the NFL Draft, it’s that time once again before the big game. The Feline Football League Kitten Bowl II! While many folks will watch the Super Bowl on Feb. 1, the hands down favorite Kitten Bowl II on Hallmark Channel at noon before the Super Bowl is the true game of competition.
