Our Condors Have Landed!

Checked back in with the Oregon Zoo and look at the big birds we’ve got! Seems these three fellows have graduated from the Condor breeding program and will now take up residence at the Oregon Zoo. I think they may be the ultimate “Three Amigos!”

Is it just me or are these amazing birds showing off for the cameras? Endangered and the largest birds on the North American continent, these guys know they’re hot stuff. The public can’t see them until May 24, so they’re getting used to their new bachelor pad.

Bunny Backup For The Easter Bunny!

The Easter Bunny has a very big job this weekend delivering all sorts of candy to everyone. A friend of mine says the Easter Bunny hides beer outside for her hubby, so this is one busy rabbit who has to stay in shape. There is an island in Japan, nicknamed Rabbit Island, which just might be the special ops training site for the Easter Bunny.

Take a look at this recent undercover footage of a tourist being herded by free range rabbits. It all dates back to World War II, but these rabbits won in the end and the island is theirs. No dogs or cats allowed!

Grab Your Parrot and Get To Rio 2!

It’s finally here! The movie “Rio 2” opens today and I can’t wait. The trailer highlights the fun with a family adventure to the Amazon. The soundtrack sounds great and an homage to “Flashdance” will surely make those of us of a certain age chuckle.

Lost Any Nuts Lately?

Been one of those crazy weeks where I can’t seem to find anything. Usually I put said item in a “safe place” and it is never seen again. Until I don’t need it anymore, that is, then it shows up.

It’s no secret I love cats, but there are some fabulous pooches out there too. This big guy is one of them. When all about you are losing their minds and can’t figure out where to store their nuts, this patient dog is a real pal.  When you can’t find something, frisk the dog! Happy Quirky Friday!

Snow, Pink Flamingos and the Olympics!

I’m not the biggest fan of snow. Serving with the Army at Fort Carson, Colorado for three years pulling guard duty, post guard, camping in the snow; high altitude combined with winter is flippin cold. I’m really a beach girl, like Maui, at heart. Yesterday we had a snow storm and more snow is coming tonight and this weekend.

So while I managed to make it home from the day job in my trusty Subaru, being warm and cozy at home is a favorite pastime when the weather gets crazy. This morning I was taking pics of my bird bath with the heater (birdie spa) with a ring of snow around the edge and the reflection of the sun against the pink flamingos beneath it. Brought to mind one of my favorite movies, “Rio.” Love the soundtrack and just found out there will be a “Rio 2.” Life is good!

Since this is the movie music I play while I am writing these days, thought you might like a little Brazil break in the middle of winter. So watch the trailer for the original before “Rio 2” comes out. Happy Quirky Friday!

P.S. Really nice of the Olympics to start so I have something to watch on tv this snowmageddon weekend! Go USA!
