Snow, Puppies And Winter Storms?

February 8, 2019 By Kimberly A. Cook 1 Comment

Since we had sunny skies and 50 degree weather last week while the rest of the nation froze their giblets off, Mother Nature decided to share. We got snow earlier this week and very brisk temperatures, for us, low 20s. Obviously pleased with herself, we now have another storm warning for snow this weekend which could be between three inches and a foot. Maybe.

Good thing the African Painted Dog pups up at the Oregon Zoo got out earlier this week to learn about snow. They get more practice. The pups are growing so fast.

Everybody stay safe, warm and bundle up your fur babies too!

Happy Quirky Friday and have a great snow weekend.

A Passel Of Puppies!

November 23, 2018 By Kimberly A. Cook Leave a Comment

What better way to celebrate Black Friday than staying home and watching videos of African Painted dog pups born to Ella at the Oregon Zoo! It’s her first litter and they estimate ten to sixteen pups. She needs privacy and quiet, so here we get to peek into her maternity ward. So either try to count the pups or go shopping today.

I can shop online like a ninja, so no worries here about sales. I actually did my shop and buy last weekend to beat the crowds. Okay, the crowds were there, but I’ve been trained for combat; it comes in very handy when retail shopping.

As I dived into an overflowing steel basket trying to find a certain polar bear snuggle blanket at Kohl’s my elusive prey was not to be found, but I captured it online. Don’t try this at home, I’m a trained professional buyer. The government used to pay me to do that. Alas, my budget is much smaller now. But I love me some bargains.

I did actually achieve getting two hoodies for free with points and coupons and sales and garlic. My personal best so far. But I digress.

Have a great, hopefully long, weekend and Happy Quirky Friday!

Ever Herded Chickens?

June 16, 2017 By Kimberly A. Cook 2 Comments

by Kimberly A. Cook                (Twitter@  WarriorTales)

Have not been able to get my act together the last week and a half for love or chocolate. I could blame it on the never ending winter weather or low sugar, but I just need to get organized. Some of the most energetic and brilliant creatures I’ve ever met are Border Collies. Maybe I need to hire one as an assistant!

But from this training film, it looks like Border Collie pups have to start at the bottom too; herding chickens. If you’re having that kind of week, remember even Border Collies start with chickens.

Have a great weekend and Happy Quirky Friday!

Who Waxed The Floors?

October 21, 2016 By Kimberly A. Cook 1 Comment

I love baby goats and when they come with matching white puppies, even better. This little four-day old guy cannot figure out what the scrambling dog wants.

The baby goat is also trying to figure out the slippery floors. Meanwhile the puppy is so excited he might have a matching playmate he actually bounces. And of course they were supervised by adults. With a video camera.

Have a great weekend and Happy Quirky Friday!

P.S. Sorry about the ad on the video, but the kid and puppy are worth wading through it.

Clear the DVR! It’s Kitten – Puppy – Super Bowl Weekend!

January 30, 2015 By Kimberly A. Cook Leave a Comment

I’m one of those folks who likes to be surprised, so it’s been quite the challenge trying to avoid the early release of the Super Bowl commercials. Mostly I’ve succeeded except for the whole puppy-gate dust-up about the G D commercial, (I am not giving them more press by using their company name.)

But an article in today’s paper about a commercial to broadcast during Kitten Bowl II sparked my interest, so here it is for your viewing pleasure. While we are all celebrating the kitten and puppy bowls, The Lucy Pet Foundation had a special effects pro donate 90 percent of his team’s time to make this important commercial about the importance to spay and neuter our pets. Bravo Lucy Pet Foundation!

And how did they EVER get those cats into mini football helmets? Have a safe and great Bowl weekend everybody. Happy Quirky Friday!
