Can You Dance Like A Storm Trooper?

May 10, 2016 By Kimberly A. Cook Leave a Comment

So I stayed up late Monday night watching the Trail Blazer game against the Golden State Warriors. Nuf said. Still bummed out. But our Rip City team fought hard and we’ve got some classy players. So in the interest of cheering myself up, I stumbled upon this on YouTube and decided to share.

More photos and tales next Tuesday. In the meantime, Go Blazers on Wednesday night!

The sun is out, it’s almost June and dreams of surfing pigs fill our dreams. Say what? Found this talented porker named Kama hanging 10 on Oahu. Here comes summer!

Have a great weekend and Happy Quirky Friday!

Can You Build A Tin Man?

May 3, 2016 By Kimberly A. Cook 4 Comments

Last Friday I had lunch with one of my favorite people, author/editor/buddy www.cindyhiday.com and we met at my favorite Café in the antique shop. This place is my home away from home and I always find treasures and creative ideas which reboot my crafty creative cup. And I get to eat goodies!

Don’t you just want to hug him? A smile would be nice. He got his heart!

Prowling the aisles I came across this amazing Tin Man some talented person made out of cans. Isn’t he adorable? Someone really made this work. Complete with his heart. I had to take his picture. He was on sale, but since I own my very own ruby red slippers, I figured someone else would come along who needed the Tin Man.

That is the fun part of the creative process, you never know where ideas will come from. Who sat around and saw a soup can and thought, “That’s the Tin Man!” Then acted on it and actually built him? Even more fun to ponder is the author who created the Tin Man out of thin air! Imagination rocks.

When you’re going about your week and happen upon some interesting items, give a thought to other ways they might be used. Exercise your imagination. Who knows, you might come up with a Tin Man too!

Snoozing On The Job?

Yes, I was. Spent one and half hours on Friday trying to find a video I liked and gave up. Saturday I played couch potato. So on behalf of those of us who need to slow down and nap at times, I give you this fabulous clouded leopard cub who is a pro snoozer. Look as those paws!

Got a busy week ahead? Remember this cutie cub. Hope you had a great weekend!

Quest For The Perfect Garden Pot?

April 26, 2016 By Kimberly A. Cook Leave a Comment

My roses are blooming in April. Sweet sea biscuits! While we had hail, rain, sun and thunder over the weekend, I went on a quest last Friday to find the perfect large ceramic teal garden pot for the fairy rock garden. So far I feel like Goldilocks; close but not quite.

Perfect color. Great shape. Too big. Rats!

Then I got sidetracked by the plants and flowers. Luckily I had an appointment or I could have wandered for hours.

Look at these fun purple flowers.

Then I found this fabulous pink azalea in full bloom. Yummy!

So, so pretty in pink.

Then a foxglove caught my eye and I had to take a very up close and personal picture.

Fairies paint the insides of these blooms, I’m sure.

And then I came across this fabulous selection of water fountains I love but are way out of my price range. But maybe if I save my pennies over the winter…. What was I shopping for anyway?

IMG_4327.JPG
The big or the small blue one, either one will work. But I need electricity. Always something.

Taken a ramble in the garden center recently? Maybe I need to use spray paint on the current big pot. Another quest begins!

Got garden style?

The Cat, You Idiot!

April 22, 2016 By Kimberly A. Cook 3 Comments

by Kimberly A. Cook              (Twitter@  WarriorTales)

If you’re one of the three people on the planet who haven’t seen this video about brothers who pranked their little sister after her wisdom teeth were extracted, you’re in for a treat. I laughed so hard I cried when I saw it. It also made me incredibly grateful I grew up without brothers and YouTube. Thank you Lord!

Since she had cotton stuffed in her mouth, they even put subtitles for our viewing pleasure.

The prank went viral and caught Ellen’s attention as you can see from the second video. What makes me a proud woman veteran is to see how this young woman under the effects of anesthesia had the wits and gumption to keep it together to make decisions to protect her family from the zombie apocalypse. Then of course the whole cat thing. Spec Ops Cat approves!

Happy Quirky Friday and have a great weekend!
